My mom was visiting this last week and we took a drive to Long Beach to visit the Aquarium of the Pacific. It is a great place to view the wonders of the sea. I managed to sketch a few interesting bits here and there. This turtle was resting in a corner and posed for me the whole time I was sketching him.
Sea Dragons are the weirdest but coolest little guys. The Weedy Sea Dragon looks like twigs and brown leaves. The Leafy Sea Dragon just looks like a bundle of green leaves. They move around like sea horses, almost a floating dance. Jelly fish are always a favorite, as long as you are not in the water with them. I love watching the beautiful ballet they perform.

Your sea creatures are a delight.
WOW I have never seen those sea dragons before! Wow! Those are very interesting and also wonderfully drawn. :)
I love the aquarium sketches. All the colors seem to work together in those, I can see them as a wonderful pattern on textiles... Reminds me a little bit of Josef Frank´s textiles. Check them out at www.svenskttenn.se , look for products, textiles and Josef Frank. (Svenskt tenn is a Swedish design company, I am not connected to them in any way, I just admire Frank´s designs.)
Your sea creature sketches are great! I also love the sea dragons and jellyfish the best when I visit the aquarium! I have some great photos from the last time I was there, perhaps I'll sketch some too!
A delightful place to draw. I love our aquarium. Better than many elsewhere. I enjoyed your sketches, very fresh
Very nice....and you got to go to the aquarium too...you know how to make us all jealous and a robert bateman sketch book...thinking i need to try one of these out
These are super sketches! I love your use of colour, too.
Lovely sketches Deborah!
You have done a lot of sketches at the aquarium and they are all great! It is exactly right...the jellyfish seem to perform some kind of dance!Lovely work

These are all so delightful. I've never even heard of sea dragons before, but your sketches are wonderful.
Wonderful sketches! I especially love the colors.
Thanks for stopping by! These animals are so cool!! To me they look like something out of a fairytale or fantasy movie... wish I had an aquarium nearby...
Oh my! I'm in love with your work! These drawings are just wonderful! What a great idea to draw at the aquarium. I love the turtle. I used to scuba dive and saw a giant sea turtle once that from a distance I thought was a human diver. It was coming right towards me, checked me out and kept on going. It was bigger than me!
These are lovely, there's such a nice clean look to them.
Sea dragons are the most beautiful creatures - especially the leafy variety! I knew an underwater photographer who took photos of them. You saw some for real? I am very envious. These are wonderful sketches!
I love you sketches! You are very talented
I love aquariums, though I haven't tried drawing in one yet. I love your drawings though, particularly the sea dragons. Just reading Nina's comment as I type and I'm thinking hmm, yes, textiles
A lovely set - I especially like all the little bits in front of the tea tin - and the green seaweed seahorse.
Wonderful little illustrations. So charming and fun. Also liked your museum artifacts.
I love these! Your flowers are great also.
May I ask where you got your R. Bateman sketchbook. I am looking for one.
Love love love those tins.
Thanks for checking out my blog! I really like these aquarium sketches. Beautiful!
