Aquarium of the Pacific

My mom was visiting this last week and we took a drive to Long Beach to visit the Aquarium of the Pacific. It is a great place to view the wonders of the sea. I managed to sketch a few interesting bits here and there. This turtle was resting in a corner and posed for me the whole time I was sketching him.
Sea Dragons are the weirdest but coolest little guys. The Weedy Sea Dragon looks like twigs and brown leaves. The Leafy Sea Dragon just looks like a bundle of green leaves. They move around like sea horses, almost a floating dance. Jelly fish are always a favorite, as long as you are not in the water with them. I love watching the beautiful ballet they perform.

EDM challenge # 7
Tins or bottles from the kitchen.
I chose some tins from the pantry and although I liked the drawing it looked a little plain so I poured out some of the mulling spices to give it a more finished look.

I love the aquarium sketches. All the colors seem to work together in those, I can see them as a wonderful pattern on textiles... Reminds me a little bit of Josef Frank´s textiles. Check them out at www.svenskttenn.se , look for products, textiles and Josef Frank. (Svenskt tenn is a Swedish design company, I am not connected to them in any way, I just admire Frank´s designs.)

Your sea creature sketches are great! I also love the sea dragons and jellyfish the best when I visit the aquarium! I have some great photos from the last time I was there, perhaps I'll sketch some too!

Thanks for stopping by! These animals are so cool!! To me they look like something out of a fairytale or fantasy movie... wish I had an aquarium nearby...

Oh my! I'm in love with your work! These drawings are just wonderful! What a great idea to draw at the aquarium. I love the turtle. I used to scuba dive and saw a giant sea turtle once that from a distance I thought was a human diver. It was coming right towards me, checked me out and kept on going. It was bigger than me!

Sea dragons are the most beautiful creatures - especially the leafy variety! I knew an underwater photographer who took photos of them. You saw some for real? I am very envious. These are wonderful sketches!

I love aquariums, though I haven't tried drawing in one yet. I love your drawings though, particularly the sea dragons. Just reading Nina's comment as I type and I'm thinking hmm, yes, textiles

A lovely set - I especially like all the little bits in front of the tea tin - and the green seaweed seahorse.
