On this day we went to Rousillion where the village is surrounded by ochre. You can walk through excavation sights for 2 euros. Did you know they heat the ochre to get darker colors for pigments? It is a wonderful village with lots to see and sketch and yes, a little shopping too.
This poor old girl was put out to pasture, literally. One day it was cooler as the mistrals and a storm was approaching so I walk down the road a ways to sit and sketch her. It was challenging but fun. She was actually white but well you know it was Provence and lavender time.
Bits and pieces, that's what I call pages like this one. A balcony, the window from the dining room, a metal shop sign, more door handles. I just fill it up with little things I see.

Not only do I want to go to France on a trip like this, but I want to travel anywhere and record the sights and activities like you are doing. Truly delightful. What a great keepsake of your travels.
Enjoy the lavender!
These pages are wonderful - very delicate drawings and colors. They will be a wonderful memory of your art trip. I'd love to be in a field of lavendar!
Very cool sketches. All the different things on your pages remind me of that book someone else did about being in France. Can't recall the title.
I really like these, especially the poor little abandoned car. One of these days, I'm going to make it over to France on a painting expedition.
Very nice collection. I really like the old VW one. Thanks for the kind comments and visiting my page.
Those Provence pages are wonderful! I especially love the details - the key, door handles and metal shop sign, they're terrific! I'd love to go to Roussillon, it's not that far from where I live but I've never been there yet...
Lovely sketches again...so you experienced the special atmosphere of Roussillon as well as "le mistral"...you sure had fun!

good morning, Deborah. I've been catching up and exploring again. Love the little pink vw. And, the lavendar fields are beautiful.
